Leo Carillo Beach

Gary and I took a short trip to California to visit his family.
With his health declining we wanted to spend what time he has left to see the people and places that mean so very much to him.  Mom and sister Nancy joined us at several beaches and a pier and created some heart felt memories.

These days have been challenging and I have lerned what it is like to recieve the generosity of others.  It is humbling for one who is usually on the giving side.  I have started making thank you cards as a result.  Here are a couple:

The top card is what I came up with when I wanted a card that I could reproduce without buying new supplies.  I used a white standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 base, then using a 4x 5 1/4 white cs ran it thru a cuddlebug to emboss.  I also, used the cuddlebug to cut the center design.   I stamped, attached 2 pearls, and attached to card with sponge squares.  This card is simple and elegant.

The second card is a little more playful.  Again I wanted to be able to reproduce it easily and used a standard white card base.  The black is 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 and the butterfly starts with a 2x2 white.  The 2 x 2 stamped square was stamped grey with daisy and postage stamp design and black butterfly.  Then butterfly was lightly colored light blue in wings and square was edged softly. Finally cut the stamped square into 1 x 1 squares and place on black square.  Thank you is embossed in silver.  I will probable add a colored cs under the black to further accent the color in the butterfly.

Hello, Wow! It has been a long time.

It has been a long time so I have alot of work that I can share.  This little card is from easter but sooo, cute.  I sent it to the grand kids.  The fun thing about this card is the use of copic markers and matching them to papers.  And I wanted to mix it up with the bunny and the monster.  This would make a great bithday card too.

Veronica's Birthday Card

A special card for a special lady.  The Serendipity papers are no longer available, but I loved the papers I purchased lots of it.  The eye catcher of this card are the adhesive pearls.

Mom Birhtday Card

For mom
I used another chipboard butterfly but used Sparkles to accent the body and to indicate flight.  The flight flourish and butterfly is followed through with flourishes in the background paper.  I love how this card came together.  Mom liked it too.

I have been layering alot lately.  I just like the look.  The butterfly in this card is chip board covered with B&T paper from the  CTMH - That's Amore paper.  The body is accented with a Garden Green Oval Clip.

Alys' Album

I told you I was working on pages for Colleen for Christmas.  Here is what I got done for her:
This first page was an opening page from one of the conventions I went to and never had the right pics for.  I added the dragon flies.  The pic is muted as light as I thought I could go and still see it, then I over-layed a poem welcoming, mom's precious gift, Alys.
I don't know if Colleen has baby books for the kids but since I was able to get the early pic I decided it would be nice if she had books from the beginning.  Some of the pages also came from swaps I took part in.
This just had to have a little girls pics, I made it at Karen Pederson's stamp camp a few years ago.  I don't remember who designed and stamped the pages.  I did eventually buy this cute stamp set.
These first pictures I got from Colleens computer.  Yes, I had permission.
I actually put this LO together at a week-end crop in Breckenridge.  The "a cutie" was done with waxy flax.
I took pictures the summer I met Colleen, Damyon, and Alys in Washington, late July '08.  We had went to the Space Needle and the Seattle Aquarium and Alys was not too sure of me yet.
Josh and Colleen had a friend take these pictures for their save the date wedding announcements.
Well, I hope you enjoyed these LOs.  The books turned out nice and Colleen was suprised and pleased with them.  I think I am missing a couple of Lo pics though because there were more pages to Alys' book and I don't see them.  Well, I will post Damyons book soon.

Christmas is over and I'm still putting the decorations away

They each are a little different and yet I kept with the green and gold for the guys and red and white for the gals.  The gold is lace but the white is beading.  That was a little tough and had to be sewn with a kneedle and thread.  I think I will find some white lace for the rest of the gals stockings.
I promised home made christmas stockings last year to Josh and Colleen.  I got a late start on them and only got the 4 done for thier immediate family.  Here is what they look like.  Now I just have to finish the grandparents and a couple of friends' stockings and send them out.

Hi, still working on Christmas presents

I just wanted to give you an update.  I've been working these last few months at State Line Nissan and the whole group of employees are a close knit bunch.  I feel like I am becoming a .part of it.

This last week has been a challenge.  Our Owner/General Manager has a history of heart problems and has been out more than in since I started working.  Tuesday, November 9th, Bob passed away.  Everyone has been is a state of shock and because of the wonderful direction he gave we were able to carry through.  Today was his funeral.  The service was a short catholic service and the procession to the cemetery was long.  Then there was a lunch with an open bar, something Bob had once vocalized to his son and another manager and there was a wonderful time where family, friends, and his partner told stories about experiences they shared with Bob.  Many were laughing and crying.  It truly was a celebration of his life.

My heart and prayers go out to Doreen, his wife.  She will have a huge hole in her life for a while.  I hope she can find peace and purpose to carry on.  God be with her and the rest of their family.

This card also meets the Copic Challenge No 37 - Colorless Blender Tricks.   I used the blender to clean up edges, create highlights on balloons, and create texture on the hedge hogs fur.  The stamp sets I used are Happy Forever D1423 and Raccoon and Friends D1067 from Close To My Heart.
These can be ordered on my web site (click here)
I think this little guy is so cute and I know just who will get this birthday card.  I'm not telling.
I used a bunch of markers on this one:  Blender Pen, E4, E11, E15, E18, E29, E49, E57, G00, G02, G14, G24, B00, BG01, BG09, RV00, RV02.  Copic Challenge site

November ???

Where has this year gone?  We had more children at our door for halloween trick or treats than I've ever seen in a neighborhood.  At one point I had near a dozen children lined up at my door waiting for their next treat.  We had just under 250 kids come by before I ran out of candy and turned the lights out. That was around 8pm.  Wondering where all these children came from I noticed a bus down the street.  Hmmm!  It did seem like they had been bussed in.

Well, it is November and time to start planning Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I will post some art work soon, I hope.  Most of what I've been working on is for Christmas presents.  I don't want to post those and ruin the surprise.
